Blast of hot air from the (Middle) East!

More good news/bad news from Planet Mikey! According to Prince Mo'money the Katrina single will be released by the end of this month! Now for the bad news: Lenny Kravitz, James Brown, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Missy Elliot are missing! Six months ago, when Raybonehead made her breathless cavalcade of celebs announcement regarding the single, it sounded like the stars themselves were falling outta the sky to participate. Today's announcement lists such chartbusters as Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly, Ciara, Keyisha Cole, James Ingram, Jermajesty's dad, Shanice, the Rev. Shirley Caesar and the O'Jays. Forgive us if we're underwhelmed. Although we DO find the combination of pot-smoking drawling rapper, Snoop Dogg, and old-school, holy-dancin' gospel singer, Shirley Caesar, really delightful. And, Shanice?! Since she burned up the charts in the very early '90s with the addictive "I Love Your Smile" she's been pretty much missing in action. Ditto for James Ingram — he dropped outta sight in the '80s!... We suppose it's too late for the combined performers to name themselves 'Motley Crew' but we think it's got the right ring to it. The O'Jay's co-manager, Andy Gibson contributed this delightful quote regardng the announcment: "We were wondering whether or not it was ever coming out; they recorded their part of it two or three months ago." We're with you, Andy... one can only wonder. Don't worry, we at Jackolandia are not in any danger of exhaling just yet at this announcement, we're gonna wait and see. Meanwhile, we might even dig up that old James Ingram CD, don our '80s club gear and get down to 'Yah Mo B There'! Read about the single that being polished to a fine gloss here.
