Mikey gets some good news! Well, maybe...
Roger Friedman is reporting today that the investment branch of Citibank (Citigroup) has offered a deal to Mikey that could save him financially. But that's a big 'could'. See, first Mikey would have to accept the deal and its terms. Something he didn't do last year when offered a similar bail-out — at that time chose insolvency instead. For all the claims through the years that Mikey's some kinda shrewd businessman, he can hardly be counted on to make sensible decisions in a pinch and at this point it's a pretty good bet no one knows what he's gonna do next. Very, very devilish, Sony, of course, has had a big hand in working out this deal with Citigroup, hoping to protect its investment in the fabled ATV (Beatles) catalog, of which Mikey owns 50%. According to Rog the deal would really not save Mikey at all, but would instead be a lateral move of the $270-million debt to a more hospitable lender. He would still owe that amount, interest would continue to accrue and, worse of all, he would not be able to borrow any more money. As the February 20 deadlline on the debt nears we'll have to wait and see what decision Mikey makes. Rog's report also covers the still-unpaid 60 remaining Neverland workers (8 weeks!), how Neverland itself is no longer insured, has no electricity in parts, no heat-hot water-gas, and who might be picking up the unfortunate zoo animals for adoption. Oh, and fear not, Mikey and Prince Mo'money are still hoping to launch their record label, 'Two Seas', although their relationship seems to be strained at the moment. Mikey recently flying business class instead of in the prince's private jet would seem to indicate that the honeymoon's long over! Read the Rog report here. QUESTION: Why are Muslim hardliners crazed and rioting over a Denmark newspaper's unflattering-to-Mohammed cartoons and letting Mikey walk around in Muslim women's modesty outfits, doing nothing to protest that? Religious fanatics: so wiggy at times, I can't figure 'em!
W.T.F.F.?!: Someone with more money than good sense, bought a used sequinned glove worn by Mikey for the unbelievable price of $250,000! D-Listed blog had a very funny blurb about the deal; read Michael K.'s post and the accomanying mean comments here.
