Jarvis Cocker's most memorable "blast from the past" is still being used to ban him from the upcoming Brit awards (think the Grammy's, with bad teeth). In 1996, the then lead singer of the band Pulp, protested Mikey's appearance at the awards by faking a fart and flashing his scrawny, pasty bum on stage. While Mikey performed one of his more tortured anthems ('Earth Song'), surrounded by unwitting children (natch), Cocker went on the attack because he was upset over Mikey's portraying himself as "Christ". Organizers of the event were horribly offended by Cocker's display and have yet to forgive him. Mikey, himself, at the time declared that he was "sickened, saddened, shocked, upset, cheated and angry". Why Mikey left out "sneezy and dopey" is anybody's guess. Still, we think that after all this time Mikey should come to Cocker's defense and get him back in the show. After all, scrawny, pasty, sexually ambiguous has-been pop stars with histories of ill-advised public appearances really should stick together, right? Read about the "flatulence"
here.
