Mikey in Bahrain: Nay and yay!

We'd been wondering what the response to Mikey's wearing traditional Muslim women's garb was in Bahrain and we finally have at least one conservative cleric's reaction: “He should keep his concerts and his effeminate manners away from us.” Thus spake Adel al-Maawda, a cleric and "fiery" lawmaker, who added, “We don’t want him turning Bahrain into Las Vegas.” Also quoted was Hani Bucheery, an operations manager for a security company, who said “I’m not against him being in Bahrain — but against him using Bahrain to run away from his problems.” The AP story also contains quotes by local lunkheads who, of course, find Mikey quite charming and are pleased that he's flitting around their malls in his Muslim ladywear and men's shoes... Read all about it here. The pic shows Mikey from one of his last concert appearances, at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. Could it be this aspect of Mikey's Vegas-y concert performances that's got that cleric al-Maawda so concerned?... Guess the 47-year-old public 'nad grabbin' has-been will have to make that triumphant stage comeback elsewhere, if he knows what's good for 'im!
